On Monday, May 13, 2019, Luiss University signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Malta. The agreement extends the already healthy relationship between the two universities into other fields of cooperation, including joint degrees and exchange programs for faculty and students.
Through Progetto Mediterraneo, Luiss offers full scholarships to allow selected undergraduate students from Mediterranean countries to study business at its Rome campus. Started in 2017, Progetto Mediterraneo is co-sponsored by Luiss University led by President Emma Marcegaglia and Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale, led by Professor Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele, which has invested in the education of young people in difficulty from around the Mediterranean.
Anthea Aquilina is the first Maltese student to benefit from this scheme since 2017: "Experiences like Progetto Mediterraneo help students like us move one step closer to becoming complete, independent and successful individuals. During their visit to Malta, the Luiss delegation met Pro Rectors Saviour Zammit and Godfrey Baldacchino, FEMA Dean Professor Frank Bezzina, as well as Head of ther Department of Economics Dr. Philip von Brockdorff and Head of the Department of Banking and Finance Dr. Silvio Camilleri.
