LLM Educational Program with Temple University

The LL.M. Educational Program with Temple University Beasley School of Law is an important opportunity for Luiss students currently enrolled in the fourth year of the Luiss single-cycle Master’s degree program in Law - specific majors.

After its completion, Luiss students will obtain the Master’s degree in Law issued by Luiss University and an LL.M. for Foreign-Trained Lawyers or a LL.M. in Criminal Law, issued by Temple University.

Available courses

The program aims at recruiting ambitious and motivated students, offering them the chance to learn in an exciting academic environment, dedicated to preparing students to enter and continue in the legal profession with the highest level of skill possible. 

The program is a tuition-paying program.

In addition to tuition fees at Luiss, students participating in this program will also pay tuition fees to Temple University with a 50% discount, hence the final tuition for Luiss students for a.y. 2020-21 corresponds to $15.546.

Please note that tuition does not include living expenses.

Admission

Who can apply

Students enrolled in the fourth year of the single-cycle Master's program in Law. According to their major, fourth-year students can apply for:

  • an LL.M. for Foreign-Trained Lawyers: open to students majoring in Diritto Amministrativo, Diritto Civile, Diritto ed Economia delle Imprese, Diritto Penale and Diritto Societario e Tributario.

Every year 5 students can participate in this program.

How to apply

The call for applications is published on December 9, 2019 and applications can be submitted until January 31, 2020. Candidates are required to submit the following:

  • Application form
  • English language certificate
  • ID card
  • Motivation letter
  • Photo in JPG Format
  • Curriculum vitae / résumé

Candidates for this program should meet the following requirements:

  • Weighted average grade equal to or above 27/30
  • Credits: at least 180 ECTS
  • English language:
    • IELTS, a minimum score of 6.5, with no score below 6.0.
    • TOEFL, a score of at least 570 (paper-based exam), 230 (computer-based exam), or 88 (internet-based exam).

Applicants who are otherwise academically qualified, but fall slightly below the desired scores, may be required to attend an 8-10 week summer English language training in the United States as a condition to enter the law school.

Selection procedure

Luiss will select a short list of candidates based on a non-disputable evaluation of the academic profile and the motivation of the student.

An Academic Commission nominated by the Dean of the Department of Law will select students on the basis of a non-disputable evaluation.

The selection results will be communicated by e-mail to the applicants by February 24, 2020 TBC.

Additional rules

  • The participation in this program will provide additional points to the final score of the master’s degree, according to Luiss rules.
  • Students will be able to participate only if they are up to date on their exams and have no pending administrative issues with Luiss.
  • Exams passed at Temple will be transferred to the Luiss career according to the study plan. It is not possible to renounce a grade.
