Management and Computer Science

The digital revolution and recent developments in computer science, algorithms, artificial intelligence, robotics, and in several other digital technologies are deeply changing many aspects of our lives and economies. Many public and private organizations, public administrations, governments and professionals are producing, collecting and analyzing huge data sets in order to extract more knowledge and value from these data and to be more competitive in their businesses. In many organizations, the emerging need for a digital transformation is challenging the traditional managerial logic and calls for new professionals, which are perfectly bilingual in two disciplines: management and digital technologies.

The bachelor’s program in Management and Computer Science shapes new leaders, who are capable of tackling successfully the opportunities and the challenges offered by the new digital technologies. This program stands out from the other courses offered by Luiss University in Economics, Business and Finance for the significant presence of  more digital and technological topics, and for a more specific focus on computing and on business analytics. These skills are also integrated with traditional foundational courses in Economics, Business Management, Law and Statistics.

Classe di Laurea L-18 (Scienze dell'economia e della gestione aziendale)

Presentation

The core of the program focuses on collecting and analyzing big data in order to extract knowledge and produce value from digital data. To develop those skills, students are given a solid preparation on algorithms and coding starting from their first year, and will further refine their knowledge of  artificial intelligence, machine learning, database management and business analytics in their second year. In their third and final year, students will focus on data science applications in many areas, such as cybersecurity, business and entrepreneurship.

The program is designed for high school graduates interested in scientific and technology-based programs, including statistics, mathematics and computer science. The course prepares students for data science jobs. The program is offered entirely in English, has already an exchange program with Paris Dauphine, and it is currently developing other exchange programs with several international universities. Through those partnerships, students will be able to spend their final year abroad, creating a multicultural experience thanks also in part to the presence of foreign instructors and students.

The Bachelor's degree program in Management and Computer Science combines economics, management and law courses – essential to critically analyze and understand the context companies and institutions operate in – with other courses with a strong focus on quantitative methods, in particular computer science, information technologies and statistics.

Employment and professional opportunities for graduates

After their three-year studies, graduates in Management and Computer Science will be able to work in several innovative and traditional companies and organizations undergoing a digital transformation.

LuissMatics

LuissMatics, organized by the new Luiss bachelor’s degree program in Management and Computer Science, is an online programming competition, consisting in 4 problems to be solved in 5 hours, which will be counted starting from when a participant connects to the server of the competition. It is therefore possible to choose the five hours that are more compatible with one’s duties!

The problems are similar to those of the regional selection for the Olimpiadi di Informatica.

For questions please contact the organizers of the competition: Prof. Giuseppe F. Italiano and Prof. Luigi Laura.
